Guardian OLP for Pre-Press, Narrow and Wide Web Applications

The Guardian OLP is PC Industries complete pre-press, off-line proofing and inspection solution. The Guardian OLP fits seamlessly into nearly any step of print production, helping companies achieve a higher standard of quality in their printing process. It’s a perfect fit for both narrow and wide web applications, easily comparing a customer-approved original to productions samples of even the widest webs with a few clicks of a button.

The system automatically detects and highlights differences in print quality between a customer-approved master and pre-press files or press samples, but its capabilities go far beyond a pixel-by-pixel comparison. The Guardian OLP also brings a host of other features and capabilities to help assure it can exceed the expectations placed on it in even the most demanding print applications. Easy to use, powerful, and versatile, the Guardian OLP is the perfect fit for any company who wants to put quality and customer satisfaction first.

Easy to use: The verification process is quick and easy. The system can compare a customer approved PDF or scan to a sample PDF or scan. Simply load the customer-approved master and train the system. The master can be trained in less than 30 seconds. Once the master file is ready, scan or load your sample. The Guardian OLP automatically corrects for skew and scale, matching the sample to the master. Once inspection is complete, the system allows the operator to review and accept or reject defects, and generate a secure PDF report that includes defect images.

Inspect the Following Types of Materials:

  • Electronic proofs from pre-press, including customer-approved and stepped files. File types include .PDF, .BMP, .TIF, and .AI
  • Scanned proofs for final approval
  • Negative images
  • Films
  • Sheets
  • First article of inspection
  • Beginning and end of roll samples
  • Final shipping inspection for audit trail and certificate of inspection

Prepress: The Guardian OLP detects errors that occur during the pre-press process, including errors generated during stepping and ripping. The system compares proofs or electronic files to one-up, customer-approved original artwork, and provides a complete audit trail of the results. Pressroom:

The system can also be used for revision control and to detect process and random errors that occur on the press, rewinder, or final inspection. The system will provide a complete audit trail for each inspection. Defects include: missing or incorrect print, pre-press errors, plate defects, color variation

February’s InfoBYTE

Each month we present a new bit of trivia that we call an InfoByte. You can check out previous InfoBytes in our newsletter archive.

This month’s InfoByte contains a few items about this history of chess.

The word "Checkmate" in chess comes from the Persian phrase "Shah Mat," or "the king is helpless.”

The highest number of moves in a tournament game is 269. It was played in 1989 between Nikolic-Arsovic and lasted 20 hours and 15 minutes. It ended in a draw.

Chess originated from the two-player Indian war game, Chatarung, which dates back to 600 A.D.

American chess was fortuitously trumpeted by founding father and chess aficionado Benjamin Franklin, who in 1750 penned "The Morals of Chess,” which can be found here.

The queen was not always the most powerful piece on the board. In one of the original Persian versions of the game, the piece that was next to the king was the king’s advisor, or Firzan. This piece could only move one square diagonally. It wasn’t until the 15th century that she became the queen as we know it today.
