In July, we gave you a short overview of the Guardian OLP. This versatile system was designed to catch errors before you send a job to press. You can use it to verify stepped and ripped files against a PDF master file or a scan of a master print. It can detect any variation, regardless of language, detail, or type of defect, and now offers Braille inspection. Use it during a press run to make sure that the product coming off the press is exactly what the customer approved.

100% Print Quality Verification |
The Guardian PQV and the PQV Mini are among the most flexible and powerful systems that we have to offer, which is why we dedicated three months to the system and its great features. Each system can be designed to run on any press, and offers features such as 100% inspection, Defect Rollmapping, OCR, Barcode verification, and Braille inspection. The system was designed based on press operator feedback, so it’s easy and productive enough that operators actually want to use it.

| November’s InfoByte |
Each month we present a new bit of trivia that we call an InfoByte. You can check out previous InfoBytes in our newsletter archive.
This month’s InfoByte is all about movable type.
Many people are familiar with the fact that Johannes Gutenberg is credited with inventing the modern movable type printing press around 1493. Over 400 years earlier, however, a Chinese alchemist named Bi (Pi) Sheng developed the first recorded movable type system using clay, an iron plate, and an adhesive made from pine resin, wax, and paper ash. Though useful, the system didn’t have nearly as much impact on Chinese culture as Gutenberg’s press did on the western world, possibly due to the thousands of unique characters that make up the Chinese language.
